User knowledge factors that hinder the design of new home healthcare devices: investigating thirty-eight devices and their manufacturers

Abstract Background The demand for home healthcare devices arises; however, many on the market are not designed to reflect needs and features of end-users. This study explored user knowledge factors that hindered design new interrelationships between factors. Methods abovementioned were identified from analysing project documents thirty-eight carefully selected produced by five manufacturers; followed interviewing thirty stakeholders playing key roles in developing devices. Results was influenced (1) insights utilised formulating strategies; (2) sources information; (3) execution research; (4) formulation manufacturers’ principal innovation processes. Conclusions users’ characteristics sufficiently reflected One root cause end-users perceived manufacturers as a success factor most cases, given initiated following public sector’s requests. Actual or potential applications this include facilitation appropriate application human methods improvement performance end-devices.
